Clearly past peak/prime: LeBron, Harden, Curry, Davis, Durant, Paul, all just limping around. Kawhi basically retired again.
Literally sad to watch half those names this year, Curry included, because you can just feel how done the 10’s era is. I’ve spent the whole year reflecting on the 10’s and eras before that, but mainly the 10’s.
Amazing primes and players down to role guys and hustle players. It’s my definitive era as a fan.
But boy I hope the new era comes on strong, and soon. No new discoveries with this GS team. God bless the FO for having god level scouting to build a team this good around Curry/Dray but I’m bored of them on a spiritual level.
Logistically a motion offense with dynamic movement is just the hardest play style to guard, ever. GS wears down even good smart defenses like 19 Houston and 22 Boston with the style but yawn man.
If this decades keeps stagnating as far as new talent hopefully Kawhi comes back strong.
Talent has been getting exponentially better every half decade since the late 90’s it feels so it’s only a matter of luck and randomness before someone outside Luka/Giannis/Jokic is clearly looking to own the 2020’s. I mean Curry didn’t really pop off until LeBron left Miami.
That still feels like a different era. I remember Curry feeling like more of a guy you’d tell your kids about like,”he could really really shoot”, while he was really good and that’s it. Basically Prime Penny or KJ kind of nostalgic player of the era, who could get underrated and you’d talk him up, and then after 2014 he leads a career into this. Insane decade and era. And I’m looking for some more insane twists.
mid 30's is usually a hard ceiling for players to remain in their prime after
if is not the physical decline is usually the injuries that get them
between lebron age, curry being 35 next year, kawho health, harden decline, durant being 34 the era is in its last gasps
the 2020-2022 feels like the transition period to the era of giannis, jokic, luka, and whoever player or team steps up
kawhi if he becpmes healthier or durant and curry if they have unpredented smooth declines may bridge the transition for the next few years
