Dude talked at length about his mental problems dating from the onset of covid.

He wouldn't have been my pick but I'm excited to see what he can do. Between his physical tools and his purported work ethic, there's a lot of possibility. I think we all acknowledged that we had a hole in our roster the exact size and shape of a big athletic wing, and that's definitely what he is, so he should be able to find opportunities if he's even remotely ready.

He will fit in with our schemes and big-time competitor. A player that we really wanted. We didn’t think he was going to be there at 24, and we were desperately trying to move up to make sure that we could get an arrangement where we could get him, but he was there. And we’re happy with that selection.”
Newton revealed that the Bucks had their eye on Beauchamp throughout the season and also welcomed him to Milwaukee for two draft workouts, which led to Beauchamp feeling quite comfortable with the Bucks.

This is a classic GM cliche. This is their version of "giving 110%." All GMs/Assistant GMs feel their guy could've gone earlier.

He was a first rounder on ESPN, The Ringer, The Athletic, SI, and Bleacher Report. Who didn’t have him as a first?

This was pre-Covid.
And I'll never blame a kid for the adults in his life chasing greener grass.

You can’t be like these would be the best guys on their college teams therefor its a higher level of competition since its just not serious basketball for the most part. Its extended summer league, is summer league better the collage? The games aren’t played as a team or winning in mind, its get guys on an island getting theirs.
I just find it hilarious how you use Nik Stauskas as someone to point out how college basketball is superior.
The same Nik Stauskas that was the Big 10 player of the year.
The same Nik Stauskas that was the best player on an Elite 8 team the year Shabazz Naiper and DeAndre Daniels won it all.
The same Nik Stauskas that made second team All-American because Nick Johnson and Russ Smith beat him out.
I think the top end talent of college is unquestionably higher. I think a lot of the times the "talent" of those players is hardly developed and largely gawked at with potential though. Chet Holmgren wasn't a better college player than Kofi Cockburn who just went undrafted and will probably play in the G-League. And there's dozens of All-American, conference player of the year, etc playing in the G-League. Including, well, Nik Stauskas.
I guess I lost what the point trying to be made here about guys who suck in the NBA tearing it up in gatorade league exhibition games is. Again, its not serious competitive basketball.
