I'm the same way. I'm honestly more shocked at drafting a 2nd rounder than picking Paolo over Jabari.

Not sure how well a 3 and no-D player adapts to anything more than a 10 mpg player in the NBA though.

We picked the guy not because his skill-set is superior to others, but because he is from MICH lol

I guess there was scout(s) at that game? Doesn't seem that people like the Caleb Houstan pick but the Magic saw something they like to draft him, I want to know why they took Caleb.
He played 3 years at Montverde which is 30 minutes from the Amway.nymets1 wrote:Why did we take Caleb Houstan? This. They probably have tons of scouting info on the guy.

I wonder if we gave him a promise of a high 2nd rd pick and contract. Wouldn’t surprise me if they see big upside as a shooter.

Houstan was heavily, very heavily, scouted by everyone when he played ball at Montverde Academy.
Montverde is on Lake Apopka and is a 25 minute drive from the Amway Center. There is every reason to believe that WeHamm had a clear view on him already.

Def Swami wrote:I understand this pick. The names in the 2nd round did tend to tail off rather quickly. Two of my guys didn't make it out of the 1st round (David Roddy and Wendell Moore Jr.). I think he's a good shooter out of spot up and off screens. He knows how to play without the basketball. He's tall at a solid 6'8". I think he'll need to hit the weight room, but he has a good frame to put some muscle on. This kid has good potential as a 3&D guy with great size, but it's going to take some time. At 19, time is on our side. I imagine he'll spend a lot of time in Lakeland.
