I'll need some days to realise it's true.

I'm the same way. I'm honestly more shocked at drafting a 2nd rounder than picking Paolo over Jabari.

Not sure how well a 3 and no-D player adapts to anything more than a 10 mpg player in the NBA though.

A 3 and NO D player you say? Welcome to the modern NBA. That description fits more than half the players in the league.

Is no one gonna mention the elephant in the room?

We picked the guy not because his skill-set is superior to others, but because he is from MICH lol

Why did we take Caleb Houstan? I know UCF basketball played Michigan at home last year and i was there and I don't think Caleb did anything against us. I guess there was scout(s) at that game? Doesn't seem that people like the Caleb Houstan pick but the Magic saw something they like to draft him, I want to know why they took Caleb.

potential....i think they saw enough flashes that they took a shot on him...didn't shoot that well this past year but shooting is his calling card....like someone said earlier, you can be a good shooter but also have a down year....honestly his playstyle isn't that much different from jabari....i like him though, maybe we found our duncan robinson

This game is giving me Cole Anthony vibes... a highlt rated top10 recruit from high school, went to a P5 school and sucked and thus dropped down.

He dropped down further though so any MICH fans tell me what happened?

He played 3 years at Montverde which is 30 minutes from the Amway.

This. They probably have tons of scouting info on the guy.

I wonder if we gave him a promise of a high 2nd rd pick and contract. Wouldn’t surprise me if they see big upside as a shooter.

They rumour is we gave him a promise. Isnt shocking given he has same agent as Wagner brothers. Relations are shaping nba teams more and more. I think his shooting upside is high. He has more upside as movement shooter than Jabari Smith for exemple. You never know at this point. He is underdeveloped physically, and not in a great place mentally. With our new facility and team full of fun dudes we are really good place for him.

Houstan was heavily, very heavily, scouted by everyone when he played ball at Montverde Academy.

Montverde is on Lake Apopka and is a 25 minute drive from the Amway Center. There is every reason to believe that WeHamm had a clear view on him already.

Half the NBA went to Montverde...I wouldn't call that an ORL pipeline.

Welcome to O-Town Caleb. I hope they give you playing time in summer league. Oh and Caleb, you literally have the one skill that we lack, shooting, if you don’t do all you can to showcase that on a team that lacks shooting, you’re going to have an uphill battle in this league. Good luck!

My point is not about pipeline, but rather that Houstan will have been well scouted by Orlando when he was at Montverde.

I understand this pick. The names in the 2nd round did tend to tail off rather quickly. Two of my guys didn't make it out of the 1st round (David Roddy and Wendell Moore Jr.). I think he's a good shooter out of spot up and off screens. He knows how to play without the basketball. He's tall at a solid 6'8". I think he'll need to hit the weight room, but he has a good frame to put some muscle on. This kid has good potential as a 3&D guy with great size, but it's going to take some time. At 19, time is on our side. I imagine he'll spend a lot of time in Lakeland.

this is what i'm banking on the most, this is probably the first time we'll have the opportunity to really use this to our advantage....the kid is going to need quite a bit of reps and time on the floor that he may not get on the main squad

Well, all I can say is, we need shooting and this guy has it. Its now up to him to show us what he has got.

Im still curious how he fell so far.
