If you want one that can happen, make sure Banks the guy who goes to Charlotte, not Evans, then send Chandler and Evans to Denver for K-Mart (injured) and Lawson. No downstream tax issues there as K-Mart is a final year contract.

+1

I know we're all happy that we may not use the TPE in these deals, but that doesn't mean we're going to use it to take in long term contracts. Okafor+ Collison takes us deep into the tax and we're not even a playoff team.

If we want Collison, maybe there's a deal we could do with Peja attached instead of Okafor. Peja is an expiring contract so we'd clear Chandler/Peja at the end of the year.

Jeez, that would be fantastic. Love Lawson.

Wont happen. Denver is in win now mode.

everyone get it now?

If this is the deal, we gain athleticism/rebounds and lose playmaking/3 point shooting. Interesting. Andrea will be our best 3 point shooter.

Maybe we keep Rolle.

There it is. Ed Davis at 3 mins? Garbage. Diaw getting only 15 mins? Yeah right. We need to cut some of the fat off of this team and we need a PG.

Not when you realize that every other player in the starting line-up are very strong defensively.

Yeah, I like the fit for Calderon. Charlotte was 24th in offensive efficiency last year. They could use Calderon.

Imagine a fast-break line up of:

Lawson, Barbosa, Weems, Kleiza/(Davis), Johnson

Why would Denver do that though? Is KMart got a season ending injury already? If not they would be losing two contributing players to their lineup.

Chandler is insurance in case KMart is injured (seems pretty often)...which allows Denver to stay competitive this season without mortgaging the farm to pick up another big. Chandler, Nene and birdman is a pretty good backcourt. They do have to keep Melo happy, after all.

Chandler as insurance? I guess Reggie is the insurance for the insurance.

Gerrald Wallace, Stephen Jackson, and Larry Brown's reaction will be. :censored: :curse:

Except Wallace and Tyrus are great shot blockers and that would make it better, and Nazr Mohammed is a decent presence in the paint.

I do agree... Charlotte was one of the top defensive teams last year and they needed a playmaker. Jose could very well be a fit there.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out there. Charlotte also needed a shooter, and Jose fits that criteria too.

If Jose slacks on d though, he'll hear it from his teamates in Stephen J and G.Wallace unlike his experience here. It might motivate him...

Does Diaw play SF or PF??? Didn't see a lot of the Bobcats games, but i'm pretty sure he plays PF with Gerald Wallace at SF. So if he does play PF, it'll be:

PF: Diaw/Amir/Davis(would suck that he doesn't get any playing time)

or

SF: Diaw/Derozan(he can probably shift to the SG and SF)/Weems

I like this trade if it means that Hedo is gone, but he would probably put up some monster numbers playing with Steve Nash. I think Diaw is the same as Hedo minus the jump shot so it won't be so bad. Not to mention that Diaw nearly shot 50% from the field last year.

Can anyone care to tell me why using Banks, Evans expirings is better than using the TPE? Since the TPE only lasts for 1 year.. shouldnt we look to get rid of that first? And the expirings are much more valuable assets, no?

Jack is a great guy, but on the court he's the very definition of mediocrity. He's never made the playoffs as a starting PG and I don't think he ever will. He makes too many bad turnovers and takes too many bad shots, and has too many bad games in general. A starting PG like that will bring the rest of the team down to his level, mediocrity.

Agreed. I have tons of respect for Jarrett as a leader, but I don't think Jarrett is going to be able to run the offense as efficient as Jose was able to do. With the players we have in DeMar, Sonny, Amir, Diaw and Kleiza, they'll be dependent on their PG to create for them. Jose developed some pretty damn good chemistry with Sonny and specifically Amir, playing the pick-n’-roll. The problem with Jarrett is that, he gets frustrated too easily which will cause the Raptors to go down with him. I remember someone from the organization said that Jarrett would often have tantrums which really caused the chemistry to wear down. Jose plays the game clam and cool, so everything goes smoothly. Jarrett goes out of control because of this reason.

Since we're only 1 million from the tax threshold isn't it possible that Colangelo can use the TPE in a draft day deal where the expiring contracts of Chandler, Banks would offset the incoming player?

Jose should be able to play some decent D. Back in 06-07 and 07-08, the Raptors were pretty damn decent defensively with Jose at the helm. Jose should be fine in Charlotte.
