13-0 with a +65 run differential my goodness. This is gonna be a bloodbath this year with us the Rays Yankees and even Baltimore/Boston both could be decent. No easy wins lol

Pretty much any team that doesn't have Berrios and Kikuchi in the lineup would be 13-0 with that cupcake schedule. I'm not impressed.

**** the Rays.

I've seen this downplay of the Rays a bunch of times here.

No it is not just any team that goes 13-0. The Rays have had 13 non bad days. That is impressive.

Baseball being unpredictable means that bad teams can sometimes beat good teams. But if that good team has very few weaknesses and lots of talent being maximized, they can go 13-0.

Yes, it is against bad teams but I am sure they aren't the only team to open with a cupcake schedule. So where are all the other 13-0 starts in Baseball?

The Jays lost one game very thoroughly to KC and just aren't as good right now especially for the reason you mentioned above.

13-0 with their run differential would be impressive even if they were playing Div I college teams. They aren't going to be this good over the course of the season, obviously, but this is statistically the best first 13 games of a season that any baseball team has ever produced, and it isn't even close. The '82 Braves outscored their opponents 66-34 (+32) while going 13-0; the '87 Brewers by 91-53 (+37). Tampa is currently at 101-30...a +71 run differential.

Watching bassitt pitch with his 100 different pitches, and watching berrios get tattood time and time again makes me think berrios really needs to add some more pitches to his repertoire. Really needs to reinvent himself at this point in his career.

Likely needs to alter his repertoire, yeah. Part of the issue is that his 2 and 4 seam fastballs don't have much differentiation, and neither do they have much movement. A short cutter while ditching the 4-seamer would make sense...an in-zone offering with a bit of movement that would hopefully keep people off the fastball a little better, and make him less reliant on his slurve (his one consistently above-average pitch).

Problem is that some pitchers find cutters difficult...thrown poorly it's just a slower version of your fastball, and that's the last thing Berrios needs.

Baez has been a disaster for the Tigers he used to be a good albeit flawed player but man his attitude this series makes me dislike him. Got a huge deal and just checked the **** out lol.

Baez was always a free-swinger, who was bailed out because he had otherworldly bat speed...he made contact with a lot of pitches he shouldn't, and drove quite a few of them. Bat speed tends to fade in your late 20s/early 30s though, so he was always a candidate to turn into a boat anchor.

Won't hit .100 for the year or anything, but he stands a good chance of inheriting the Prince Fielder/Miguel Cabrera Guy Who Gets 9 Figures to Be Sub Zero WAR Memorial Spot on the Tigers' roster for the next five years.
