Some people here seem to point to Vince giving up on the team as a reason to not retire his Jersey. I don't think any sane person in their prime would EVER stay with the Raptors considering how poorly they were run post WIlkens era. It was an asylum.

Vince was the single greatest player to grace this franchise, and created a generation of basketball players that are now about to compete for an Olympic medal.

Sure the divorce was nasty, but it was justified.

There are pros and cons with Vince. I choose the few years of true excitement where I honestly thought Vince will become top 3 Mvp candidate... over his exit whereby management was as much to blame as him. I would not oppose him getting his jersey retired but would understand if he didn't.

Make it life size, and put it at ground level, not on a pedestal. Then all of the 14-15 yr old kids can walk past it, look down on it, and think they can become great Canadian ball players, if they only put in the hard work starting right now.

It;s not the fact that he left the team, he literally quit on the team and stopped trying on the court. How do you go from 16ppg in 30 mins to 28ppg as soon as you get traded. **** that guy.

Accomplishment comes after Recognition. Vince was the main reason Raptors got recognized in the NBA; without him we could have had the same fate as Vancouver Grizzlies, God forbid. He made the team respectable in the NBA community.
Also dont forget his effect on the future generation of Canadian basketball players; he was their inspiration to pursue their dreams of playing in NBA and thrive there.

I'm going to go on a limb and say most of the anti vince hate is the younger crowd. The Raptors had like two games on national TV prior to vince. Every U.S raptor fan will probably tell you it's because of air Canada.

VC has a monumental place in Canadian hoops. Stories like Barrett and Olynyk where you have Canadian hoopsters with talent playing here were born from the level of excitement and success VC brought along.

Nah, I dont celebrate quitters, the only remarkable thing he did for he Raptors is the Dunk contest and losing to Philly in the playoffs.
