The floodgates are open. Finally!
It's time for 5 refs.

as long as US don't get blown away next leg, they qualify for Copa America 2024

there is barely anyone at this game, does trinidad and tobago's team not have a terribly big following?

with how hot/humid it is and being at 10 men for so long, shouldn't we be doing some more substituting?

It's Berhalter, what more can I, or anyone with knowledge of the sport, say...

Again, as soon as he was rehired, what hope fans had went out the window. I've completely lost interest in the USMNT.

lost a friendly with slovenia today. bunch of young kids on the roster. probably not much to glean from this but hopefully some good experience for the kids

aren't there usually two games this window? why only one?

I found it very interesting that Jesse Marsch would openly criticize Gregg after this loss:
"When I watch a game like this, I think we're trying to be Spain 2010 and we just don't have the players to do that and we don't have the time with these small groups to execute what you want that to become," Marsch said post-game in the latest episode of Call It What You Want, a CBS Sports podcast.

"Of course, the players don't perform that great on the day. We can all say that. The overall performances were not good enough but it's hard for them to insert themselves in the game when they're only thinking about where they're positioned and where their spot is supposed to be on the pitch and not thinking about how, as a group, they're going to go after the game."

Jesse might be angling for the job. I don't think he's a great manager, but I do think his RB/Leeds-style suits the USMNT squad more than whatever Berhalter is trying.
It's time for 5 refs.

I agree. I do believe he wanted the job and was considered but they chose Berhalter...possibly twice.

I do think it's a low blow and a bad look to start criticizing the current manager, but I've always liked him. Also it's not as if Leeds had a turnaround once they got rid of him for no good reason

friendlies against colombia and brazil as tuneups right before copa america

good competition but also potential quarterfinal opponents so that's a little weird.

Does anyone think the U.S. might be better playing a 4-4-2?

Dest, Robinson, Richards, Robinson
Adams
Weah Musah
Reyna
Pulisic Balogun

Reasons is Reyna distributing to the wings would be pretty useful. Pulisic can move in where he prefers to play anyway. Dest/Weah and Musah/Robinson make for a great pair of overlapping wings who can also play defense.
