After all the drama with the first pick and Fields, I thought it would be smooth sailing with the 9th. Definitely easier but I'm starting to convince myself that we're going to land Harrison.

It’s too much smoke around it imo
If he would have never visited with Chicago I probably wouldn’t have thought much of it but it’s looking like a possibility. He probably wants to play with DJ also.

That trade seems awful. Just let the roster become comically stacked without burning our extra picks via trade-ups.

Agreed. I have zero interest in trading away next year's first and second round picks to move up for a WR. I'm not even sure I want to target a pass-catcher with the #9 pick at all, let alone trade up.

This.
Don’t overthink it and force it.
I think there will be a WR drafted after MHJ who will end up better anyway.

Part of the reason Fields took time to develop was because, at least in his first year, the OL was putrid. A lot of important habits are made in Year 1, including the trust a QB prospect can have in the people around him. While our line is better this year, I still think we'd get Caleb Williams off to a good start by investing in the OL. If we can trade back to grab Fashanu and a second round pick, then invest in DEs in round 2 and round 3, we'd have a puncher's chance at being a contender right out of the gate!

Would a rookie fashanu be better than a 3rd year Braxton? Long term, probably. But next year, probably not.

Amazing what people will say for attention. The salary difference between the 4th and 9th picks is probably over $2 million a year. Nobody likes the Bears that much.

Off topic but this is amazing
Between this and the Bears next week, we have the chance to have the greatest draft summer in Chicago Sports history.
Caleb x Odunze is my equivalent to this
Hopefully the Bulls don’t ruin it

I've read that Angel Reese may not turn out to be nearly as good as a pro as she was in college because she can't shoot and won't have a size advantage in the pros.

Sounds like she's ready to work regardless

But the depth would greatly improve, brother. Braxton's injured half the time. We can't bank on an OL who does that.

???
braxton's played almost every snap in 28 out of 34 possible games
the reality is that fashanu will probably never be as good as braxton has been in his first 2 years. only top 5 picks can be expected to surpass what jones has done (and probably a guy like alt who slips a little in a draft top-loaded at premium positions)
