Good writeup on Dillon Jones:
https://www.noceilingsnba.com/p/dillon-jones-down-to-earth-heliocentrism
We really need to come out of this draft with 2 rotational players to fill out our lineup. Maybe Jones could be one of them.

If we keep our pick, I feel like Shannon Jr. or McCullar would all be solid choices. Shannon Jr. seems like the most obvious choice.
I like Tyler Smith a lot too, but he's younger and might take too much time to contribute.
I would take either of those players. McCullar is less flashy, but he's pretty well rounded.
Yea he seems smaller than he is, if that makes sense? Does not seem to have the length or strength.
2024-2025 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/Lowry/Jackson
Martin/Gordon/McCain
Oubre/Council
George/Yabusele/Martin
Embiid/Drummond/Bona

Bro I would take Dillon Jones at #16. He's pro-ready and well-rounded and has some lineup versatility. He can basically play smallball PF in many lineups.

Kansas lists him at 6'7" 212 pounds, which is obviously exaggerated. I do think he's probably a legit 6'5" though. Which is ideal for a 2guard.

Dillon Jones' statistical profile feels unicorn-ish, like almost too good to be true.
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/dillon-jones-1.html
I take FT% over 3% for prospects (Josh Jackson fallacy).
And then his TS%, FTr, assist rate, steal rate and rebounding numbers are all exceptional, and have multi-year patterned trends.
Good size and the film is encouraging as well.
Curious to see where he shakes out in this draft cycle.

I think it's worth mentioning the SOS that Dillon faced the past two years. Him vs top opponents, or even opponents from power 5 schools usually yielded mixed results. Sometimes bad percentages, but also try to make up with increase rebound numbers. I haven't watched much, if any, of his games, but I'm definitely concerned with his level of comp.

Baylor Scheierman is another guy that is a way better rebounder than he has any business being.

One guy I'd love to get a closer look at, possibly in 1v1 or scrimmage setting against other draft prospect would be Chaz Lanier if he stays in the draft. Played like megapoop on defense, but his offense was simply absurd this year. I think the defense also took a hit because he did everything for UNF on offense. Looks like he has decent length, good athleticism (saw him cram on a few guys), and the shooting percentages are elite. That said, he played pretty bad SOS.

Re: 2023-2024 College Basketball / NBA Draft
I'm currently in a group chat with a bunch of plugged in Kentucky fans who have been raving about Pope's transfers. I think the draft evaluation has ruined me because I'm excited about like 3 of the guys: Andrew Carr, Brandon Garrison, and Koby Brea. And my excitement purely exists from a college basketball POV. Brea is an elite shooter but does literally nothing else. Andrew Carr is a three level scorer with some excellent advance stats, but the eyeball test suggests a little slow. Probably the second best NBA prospect on the team. Brandon Garrison has a fouling issue, but his shooting numbers and defensive numbers suggest he's going to be elite once he can find a way to stay on the court. Amari Williams has the numbers, but he's without a doubt a college center who will be undersized at the next level with no real shooting upside.
When discussing with these guys, they simply cannot get enough of Kerr Kriisa who is a walking turnover. Pumped about Jaxson Robinson who is very much redundant with Koby Brea. It's infuriating to have discourse with them because they reject statistical evidence outright, lol.

If you were looking for a freshman in our range to 'Maxey' it might be Ja'Kobe Walter.

I don’t know what the deal is with Jamir Watkins, but I can’t believe he’s not even being mocked in the second round. He’s got killer stats and is a face up 6’7 small forward. My only apprehension is FSU being hot trash with him as the alpha scorer.

Character concerns aside, Terrence Shannon would be super fun on this team. It would be the closest Embiid gets to playing with Ant-Man.
Might even be a realistic selection, too. Morey can't afford to whiff on a teenager or project. He needs to land a playoff rotation piece with this pick, given our poor organizational depth.

Yep. Mocked at #13 overall by Tankathon. If he falls to us at #16 would be a great upside play. Stats look really good for a 19-year-old freshman and the length (6'5" w/ 6'10" wingspan) and athleticism to play SG alongside Maxey appears to be there. Also highly ranked recruit (#8 in 2023) like Maxey was.

His catch and shoot numbers are very good and he's pesty on defense. He has a thick build, creation upside and length.
Seems like a really good kid too.
I think Da Silva makes a lot of sense if it's a player to select with intention of trading. He seems to be somewhere in the middle of the Cam Johnson -> Trey Murphy axis.

I don't like Da Silva solely due to poor rebounding numbers. Maybe it's trauma from the Knicks series but I want dogs who are hungry to crash the glass.

I’m a big fan of De Silva. I think he’d be a great fit at SF. Could play PF in a pinch, but I don’t think that’s his strength.
Good 3 and D potential

Not getting hopes up for Walter. This league would be idiotic to let him fall out of the top 10.

McCullar or Carter definitely seem like the 2 most ready to play contributors at guard that would be available. Carter is a little shorter than we’d like, but I think he makes up for it in toughness and hustle. Both are rather safe guys that maybe don’t have the highest ceiling, but I think both are safe to be 15-20 min role players right away

Yeah, the criminal investigation is unfortunate, but he's probably the most pro-ready bonafide scorer in this class. His combination of free throw rate and projected three point shooting make him almost a can't miss scorer. Then you take into consideration his size and athleticism and it's almost even more of a no-brainer.
Teammate Coleman Hawkins wouldn't be a terrible addition in the late 2nd or undrafted pick up. He's like a lesser Da Silva. Has some size to play PF and can space the floor and provide some ball movement with nice passing. Batum role.
