I'm loving watching other musicians react to Primus on youtube. It's a band I always come back to, they're weird and funny but also fantastic musicians.
Les gets most of the attention for his insane bass play, but the drums and guitar are awesome too

Paging YB

FATS LIVE MUSIC DIARY 1987 - 2013

Finally dug up my old spreadsheet that I had been working on for a decade back in the late 90s through 2000s. Had this on my work computer and I would add stuff to it when I was bored. Anyway this is all the concerts that I can remember paying money to go see. I'm sure I'm forgetting a handful and missing some openers that were forgettable. This is most of them. Huge majority in the 90s. I think most of the years are fairly accurate. And to guess. I tried to update a lot of these in real time so that the ratings were fresh in my mind..

I have been addicted to Sade lately, "is it a crime" may be the perfect song

I somehow only just found America in the last year (other than horse with no name). They are an incredibly talented band.

Other than that I think i am a music outlier here.

I mainly listen to EDM (Don Diablo, Madeon, Tritonal, Cash Cash, Dropgun, Lucas & Steve, Porter Robinson, Joe Stone etc) and 80's like Hall and Oates and The Police.

Fats ranks fave songs by the band America

1. tin man - sooooo smooth, plus some cool chill drum fills, great harmonies, sneaky cool bass lines, so much happening in this song. by far my favorite song by America
2. ventura highway - acoustic guitar licks all over the place, great hamonies. not quite as great as tin man
3, you can do magic - 1982 comeback song.
4. horse with no name - very neil young-esque, like the OG of their songs. Probably gets unfairly punished in my rankings simply from just being a song heard way too many times in my lifetime.
5. sandman - cool acoustic jam/breakdown in the middle
6. sister golden hair
7. lonely people - harmonies galore
8. daisy jane

I might have to do a hall and oats ranking as well. That was one of the very first vinyl albums I ever bought as a kid. 1984- big bam boom

ah yes I remember that tune. Probably haven't heard it in 30 years though. It was definitely on the greatest hits cassette tape that I had back in the day.

I did couch tour for the most recent Phish tour and at setbreak at one of the shows they played this album:

Really love this album. 1970s Brazilian pop / jazz I guess?

finally gonna try to rank these Hall and Oates songs
Fats ranks his favorite Hall and Oates songs... This is way harder than ranking America songs. I have 14 of their song saved on my Spotify gonna rank all 14.

rich girl
sara smile
when the morning comes - least famous song on this list
adult education - 80s gaudy cheesy sounds at its best - lyrics are **** up tho lol
she's gone
you making my dreams come true
kiss on my list
maneater
i can't go for that
out of touch
private eyes
method of modern love
one on one
family man

tough, But it had to be done.

Side note have any of you seen the mid 2010 comedy she's out of my league? Super underrated, very hilarious ranchy comedy. One of the funniest parts is TJ Miller's character is in a Hall and Oates cover band.
