Hugo was swearing in English last night. After one call he clearly said, "Bull---- call." It wasn't hard to lip read.

As we progress through the pre season I am thrilled with picking Hugo, but disappointed we traded 32.
I think Hugo will have impact this year and be a stud in a couple years.

Keep playing him. Should be either the 8th, 9th or 10th man. Def should be a top 10 rotation player.
Might not play a single game in Maine his year.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

I think that may be right. No real need for him to spend time in Maine.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Hugo Gonzalez!
good find.
to listen to that about another couple of teams that wanted to select him if he'd stash for a year, sounds like one team was OKC and once Hugo wouldnt agree to stash, OKC moved their #25 to Sacto...
the team picking right ahead of us, sounds like BRK, who has a Spanish coach that was asst coach of the Spanish national team in 2017, Jordi Fernandez, who would have had all the intel on Hugo Gonzalez one of the biggest Spanish prospects in years. I would assume BRK was going to take Hugo but they werent expecting both Wolf and Saraf to be there, so BRK went in a different direction

I'm guessing BKN must have been one of the teams. They had multiple picks, went heavily Euro, and probably thought they could get Hugo and stash him while having Demin, Traoré and Saraf with the club.
The other team?.... Dallas?
OKC seems like a team that would be interested. They are already loaded, but will be looking for some young affordable talent to develop in the next few years as the current roster gets expensive.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Hugo Gonzalez!
I think Brad stumbled on an under the radar lottery pick in Hugo.
Hugo's going to be very good as he gets older.
Another 2-way player with a high-ceiling.

Hugo’s hard to not get a little excited about. Great defense, hit his shots, is only 19 but is already pretty strong with a great frame and he has an elite NBA physical attribute in those baseball glove hands.
Already might be Brad’s best pick. Could see him as a Gordon Hayward on the high end. Maybe Brad does too

I don’t see the elite skill level of pre-injury Hayward. He reminds me of a more of a young JB but with a much lower ceiling. Like a young JB he is raw but still makes a difference on the court due to his talent. JB did have great ability to get to the rim but I don’t see that with Hugo. Excellent pick for late draft pick. I see a future glue guy who is good at a lot of things but I don’t see him being special on offensive end. Hope I’m wrong of course.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I wouldn't say Brad stumbled on him. They had been scouting him for a while. I feel Hugo could have easily gone top 15 in the draft.
I'm hoping we can look back at this pick in 5 years and say Hugo should have gone top 5 in that draft.

Idk if I'd want to put that type of pressure/expectations on him.
I'll be happy if he can be somewhat like a Christian Braun type of player, with maybe some Josh Hart and Kenrich Williams mixed in. A solid role player wing would be good value for where we drafted him.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

if hugo turns out to be a legit 6th man or better in a couple years then this pick will cancel out the mistake of drafting baylor scheierman.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Hugo Gonzalez!
Oh man, if anyone wasn't sold on this guy already, this clip might do it.
The defense he plays at the beginning of the clip is good. I liked that but wasn't super impressed, it's just a basic drill defending a coach. But then at the end, just, wow. The fact that he goes all out like that going after the ball, diving on the floor for it. When it's just a drill in practice playing some defense 1 on 1 vs a coach and he does THAT.
It just confirms that that's how Hugo plays *all the time*. I know I've said that "motor" can be an overrated thing that people use when evaluating players. But when a guy has this kind of motor all the time, even in practice in a 1 on 1 drill defending a coach, that tells me something.

I've thought taller, hopefully better shooting, Josh Hart before myself. That would be a really nice player.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Hugo Gonzalez!
More Hugo propoganda!
He hits 8/9 (88.8%) on corner 3's here. Now this a small sample size and these are empty gym, no defender shots so we shouldn't base too much on this.
But what they say is whatever you shoot on empty gym 3's, you cut that % in half and it's about what you'd shoot in a real game. So 88.8% on these empty gym 3's translates to 44.4% on 3's in a real game.
But again, it's a crazy small sample size. So again, we shouldn't read too deeply into it. But I do think this clip is at least somewhat encouraging..not only because they're going in, but also:
a) the mechanics are solid here
b) I really like how free and easy he's shooting them. So free and easy, so relaxed - effortless. Just letting them fly - with confidence. When it looks like that, that's typically really good shooters like Hauser, Pritchard, etc. Not saying he'll be that good of a shooter but I just think his shot is looking better than before.
Pretty cool to see that from such a young player who's supposedly a weak shooter - at least the percentages said he was before the Celtics but I think it's a testament to the work he's put in, but also it shows that the numbers he put up overseas were probably a bit misleading since he was sitting on the bench all game and then got thrown in there for like 2-5 minute spurts and was only playing like 5-10 total mins per game, had quite a few DNPs and was a 18 year old kid playing in THE top overseas pro league
