Trade #123: Los Angeles Lakers - Denver Nuggets

Los Angeles Lakers Receive:
PG Andre MIller ($7,807,728)

Denver Nuggets Receive:
SF Andres Nocioni ($6,650,000)
2012 2nd Round Pick

Lakers accept.

While this deal doesn't appear to be much, it's actually a nice deal for us as we deal our third string SF for a guy that makes Ramon Sessions available to be moved elsewhere. We like what Miller brings to the table and believe he'll play well with Dwight and Rudy in our offense. A late second round pick is easily worth the difference IMO.

Dallas Sends: Zach Randolph (15.2 mil) + Ian Mahinmi (.9 mil) + Brandon Wright (.9 mil)
total= 17 mil

76ers Send: Luol Deng (12.32) + Josh McRoberts (3 mil) + Ryan Gomes (4 mil)
total= 19.32

17 * 1.25= 21.25, deal works.

Dallas does it because it likes Deng as a better fit next to Nowitzki then Z-Bo

2012 2nd Round Pick (from Dallas)

Dallas Mavericks Receive:

C Mehmet Okur ($10,890,000)

$15,147,973 x 1.25 +.1 = $19,034,966 > $17,908,000

Lakers accept.

It's tough parting ways with Ramon Sessions, but after acquiring Andre Miller we felt he was a bit redundant. We get a great sixth man in Jason Terry who brings shooting off the bench, and we improve our post defense even when Dwight Howard has to get a breather. Adding what we project as an early 2nd round pick is a great deal for the Lakers.

Trade #125: Los Angeles Lakers - Houston Rockets

Los Angeles Lakers Receive:
PG Shaun Livingston ($3,500,000)
SG Daequan Cook ($3,341,558)
2013 1st Round Pick (via New Jersey, Unprotected)

Houston Rockets Receive:
PF Anderson Varejao ($7,700,000)

6,841,558 x 1.25 + .1 = 8,651,948

The Rockets are also sending three million in cash to the Lakers in this deal. The Lakers will also send PF Josh Davis (minimum contract) to Houston as well.

Lakers accept.

It's tough parting ways with Anderson Varejao, but we needed to add some more picks to our arsenal to make trades and adding an unprotected 1st is never a bad idea.

Phoenix Suns send:
Jared Dudley ($4,250,000)
Hakim Warrick ($4,000,000)

We expect the local press's story to read with a negative slant, we gave up our powerball ticket and our cap flexibilty in the same trade. What were we thinking???? But we get a player we targeted 3 teams ago, and think we have a defensive juggernaut that runs 10 deep and can challenge anyone. Jason Thompson is nice, but he's no Varejao and we like the upgrade, even if its price was steep. We are very high on Patterson, but getting him back to a 25 minute reserve role isn't bad at this step in his development, and we expect to dominate every other teams 2nd units.

{Varejao has a 5% trade kicker. I kind of assume we are ignoring these, but someone let me know so I don't accidentally file false paperwork with the league office.}

yes we ignore kickers here (always wanted to include them but its hard enough to get people to follow the actual salary, lol

Again, Houston accepts. We think that Korver could be extremely valuable chip in GM a team, in case a team needs the immediate salary dropping next season. We regret losing that chip, but we get a strong 2 guard rotation, have all affordable players looked up for this and next year, and really think we could surprise and defeat a lot of less balanced, less fundamentally solid teams with the roster we have. The fact that we just swapped identical salaried players from the Bulls this season and got the clear cut better player is nice, and at 5 million next season Rip is a good addition.

Also, apparently Marcus Morris has the plague. We didn't mind keeping him versus selling him so low, but our first trade buried him on our roster, an even now we aren't sure we have minutes for LMAM, so he was a luxury that really didn't serve a purpose. The second of two trades where we are thrilled on fit.
