I'm happy.

The more broke down old guys end up in Miami the more broke down old guys the Celtics and the rest of the NBA have the pleasure of doo dooing on. I love Miami's strategy this offseason. Get older, softer, more injury prone and more reliant on three point shots from players on the warning track of their career.

Couldn't be happier.

U mad now?

So instead of just avoiding the thread, you do something that you know is going to cause an argument?
Got it. Great logic.

If there were 15 teams in the NBA currently instead of 30 wouldn't that mean more competition since there would be less teams in the NBA, meaning more stacked teams?

Except your own team would also be more stacked and if you're Miami your increase would probably be higher than average based on location. Also since Miami lacks depth they are more likely to benefit from an infusion of talent to a deep team like San Antonio.

Its still clearly easier to win multiple titles when there are only EIGHT teams in the league as opposed to 30 and the numbers literally show that.

Just having to go through 4 rounds in the playoffs instead of 2 can cause problems whether through injury or just an underdog getting hot shooting. Additionally they didn't have the 3-point shot which drastically increases the variance and allows underdogs to win more often.

Mad? The confetti is still falling from the championship.. And Riley just picked up Ray for half of what Boston was offering. No one is mad in south Florida.. That's for sure. :D

Yeah because getting to play the Bobcats 4 times a year is harder than playing a Laker team with 4-5 HOFers in their prime in the starting lineup 4 times a year.

More team do decrease your individual chance at winning. Sure the teams won't be as stacked but then your own team won't be as stacked either.

If we played by those rules the Heat would be that team with 4-5 HOFers in their prime (or probably more)

So do you, like many other Celtics haters want to discount championships that happened prior to expansion?

Or are you just wasting your time?

Point blank: Celtics have 17 titles and Miami 2.

Celtics = Yankees
Heat = Marlins

LMAO at anybody trying to discount a championship from a previous era. Many players of today's game couldn't even play back then because they would of been turnover machines (palming and carrying run rampant in today's game). Players of a yesteryear may of lacked the overall athleticsm of today's group, but they were greater basketball minds, who didn't rely on 3pt shots to boost PPS ratios, or flopping to get cheap calls. Bill Russell dealt with racism in many venues he played at...Dwight has the awful luck of having to be paid millions playing for a team he has no desire to play for. And at the risk of sounding like some ol' "back-in-the-old-days" preacher, I'd figure that many of the old timer players would be flabbergasted at the current group of overpampered, overpaid, overemotional and frankly, overrated collection of players who masquerade as superstars in today's game.

As for the topic, it's easy to see why it was derailed. It's a blessing that Doc will no longer force himself to be able to play this one-dimensional faded star in fourth quarters of playoff games. Outside of the first round, Allen has consistently vanished in the playoffs post 2008. His ability to hit a 3 does not undermine the fact that he can't defend or make a transition hoop. Courtney Lee would be a superior option should the Celtics somehow acquire him.

there's nothing about the past that inherently makes them better than today's players except the necessity of existing in the culture of that era. Today's players would most likely destroy the players of the 50\s just because of the natural evolution of the game and the demands of the year-long athlete creating a more competitive environment, requiring better physical specimens capable of excelling in todays basketball climate.

I never got people who use team history as a way for validation. The past is over except how its perception influences people today, and franchise loyalty means we're all rooting for laundry anyways. Who cares if a team wins 1000 championships or none, you had nothing to do with it. You're a fan. Let go of that weird attachment and enjoy the fun and experience of being a fan watching people do something at a high level.

Man its just a dream I dont want to wake up from... Who the heck is MAD? :lol:

^^^^

Yeah, of course you'd have a naturally higher chance at winning a title with less teams. But that will almost always hold an inverse relationship in regards to competition.

Not sure how you're factoring in the "average increase higher based on location." So long as we're still taking other things into consideration, that is not a guarantee.

If Heat fans were polled on this board what percentage of them would vote "Miami is definitely back in the Finals" or "Miami is definitely repeating"? I'm guessing more than 75% of Heat fans on this forum would choose one of those two options.

The Miami Heat has earned their fans the right to believe they are poised to repeat. Is that really hard to understand?

That is what happens when your team wins the title, you get brag about how the road to the title goes through your city.

What do you want Miami Heat fans to do? Not possess the bravado and confidence in their team repeating? I mean seriously.

Seriously....

Exactly.. The Heat haters can't seem to grasp this fact. That's what being a fan is all about. Talking trash, is FUN. Repping YOUR team is what it's about. I'm not saying name calling, bashing etc. But most people on this board are hypocrites or so damn sensitive now.

What I find comical is for two years the Heat haters had their fun trashing the Heat, their fans etc. Now that Miami has won a title, they either want to discredit it, or already make it sound like it's ancient history. Lol it hasn't even been a month yet! Already trying to put multiple teams light years ahead of Miami when the Heat have already significantly improved their championship team.

The Celtics WILL beat the Heat this year.

They have more talent and more depth and I think Miami is going to get worn down with that soft old supporting cast they're building.

I think the Celtics will restore order on Wade, Bron and Bosh soon enough, they were once the Celtics' b's and they will be again.

Enjoy your title pink hats!

It's pretty funny because a lot of these same guys that have been trashing the Heat get extremely sensitive when we attack them back.

If you can't take it, don't dish it.
