Shem, let me know when you look up the iso stat before you write another Lillard novel.

I agree that most bigs who shoot terrible ft percentages dont get much better, but when you look at dre shoot you can tell by his form he has the mechanics down and a soft touch.I could see dre getting between 50-60 in the future. We can also see from tonight, that when boston tried the hack -a-dre he performed well under that pressure, which is a really good sign.

idk if Drummond will ever be a good FT shooter, though I think he is capable, but as long as he makes them when they count thats good enough. Today was a good test to show that he can make them when he has to.

If Detroit had a shooting coach as amazing as Chip Engelland Drummond will be at ~50% FT shooting by the end of the season.

Damn, you can't leave Drummond so wide open on defense like that. He really made them pay.
It's nice to see him make his FTs on the hack-a-Drummond attempts.

Re: The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread pt. II
I know Lillard is having a great year, and Drummond is probably not getting enough min to qualify for ROY, but when you look at what he's doing statistically its unprecedented for a rookie afaik, and I really think he deserves serious consideration at this point.
Here are Drummonds rankings according to basketball reference (and these are for the whole league, not just rookie rankings) -
Defensive Rating: 6th
Offensive Rating: 16th
Total Reb%: 4th
Off Reb%: 2nd
Block %: 6th
Off Reb Total: 14th
Blocks Total: 13th
PER: 12th
Blocks/GM: 14th
Win Shares/48 min: 13th
He's the only player in the league in the top 16 in both Offensive and Defensive Rating. To put that in perspective, the superstars like LeBron, Durant, Paul etc aren't even in the top 20 in both.
He's top a 15 player in 10 major categories as a 19 yr old rookie. To compare it to LeBrons rookie year, James made the BR Top 20 Leaderboard in 9 major categories.

I do think Drummond should get ROY consideration, but with the year Lillard has been having there's little chance he gets it.

He's a lock for All-Rookie 1st Team though, IMO Lillard/Davis/Drummond are all locks with the last two spots being fought over by Beal/Waiters/Shved/MKG/Barnes.

Should get considered but he needs more minutes imo to have a better chance

[x] shoots 38% on the season
[ ] can somehow get to 70%
From the statments bigshot made, i see where your coming from. however Drummond's does have a nice touch and i think will EVENTUALLY be a 70% shooter. Free throw shooting is a problem but it looks like it can be fixed

If true, kid will be unstoppable!
The 5 rooks Ive been most impressed with recently are:
1) Drummond
2) Lillard
3) Beal
4) Davis
5) Waiters

How do you know it's the 12th worst? 186th is pretty bad but I'm wondering if you have access to the whole rankings of synergy?

speaking as a Blazer fan who went through the Greg Oden ordeal, I wouldn't be happy about Drummond carrying more weight rather then less. Those extra pounds add a lot of stress and impact to the knees and lower body on every step, and especially every time he jumps and lands
body mass does not necessarily equal core strength. Especially not for a guy as young as Drummond.

I think he can handle it with his build.
Mlive.com-
"Genetically gifted, body wise," Kander said on DetroitPistons.com. "What I love is the lower extremity body structure – big hips, big thighs. Kids that are big in the upper body but have smaller bases, a little more fragile. Things can go wrong. When you start off with a great foundation – like a house, you build from the basement up – he has it."

Re: The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread pt. II
I'd be surprised if he was at 297 now, he specifically said he'd dropped weight to be a little faster than when he was at UConn (where he was about mid-290s). He doesn't look any bigger, but who knows, it's possible. I kind of think someone was maybe having some dyscalculia 279--->297. Either way he carries it well. He's got some tree stumps for legs (and they're both the same length) so I don't think the Oden concerns should weigh too heavily on folks.

Didn't Yao have a great foundation too?
Well at least we're not Detroit!
