Anyone else in history convert shots like this on a consistent basis?

Here's goat mid-range back when contested, mid-range shots amongst congestion were the norm.

Thx, I appreciate the views and comments.

I have one final gif collection coming at some point once I get a chance to do it - Top 10 MJ Shots Off a Drop-Step (one-step vertical).

For most guys, a shot taken off a drop-step is going to be ordinary - players normally just go up and shoot a layup or regular shot, maybe dunk it if they are open enough... but for Jordan, it was more of an event - so get ready for a final memory throwback of hangtime and dispy doo's.. :nod:

The first player I was reminded of when watching the recent Elgin Baylor mix (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjNS_oYE92E) is MJ, taking and making shots after spending a ton of time in midair, sometimes on the way down.

MJ's definitely one of the best ever, no matter how you slice it. Dude did some crazy stuff on the floor (and in the air).

i feel you fpliii - i've been watching elgin baylor highlights recently - and as i'm watching i'm like "elgin could totally give it to MJ lol".. similar to larry and magic, his true basketball skill was even superior to Jordan in many ways - i find that the further you go back in history into the 2-point eras, the faster-paced the game was*** and the more congested and compacted the defense was... and of course, it was more physical.

the faster pace coupled with more congestion required players to make faster decisions than players of future eras, and this superior skill is evident when watching a guy like elgin baylor thread needles amongst the congestion and do so quickly and instinctively, while taking highly contested shots ON defenders as a standard (as opposed to today's game where the floor-spacing/gaps of space in the defense is at an all-time high, open shots are the expectation, and players wait half the shot clock to set up their assist, or a 3-pointer - almost a different sport altogether).

I think a Finals matchup of Jordan vs. Elgin would be the most competitive of anyone EITHER guy could face.. i'll put my money on Jordan using the rules from the 80's and anything after... money goes on elgin using 50's and 60's and 70's rules.

*** unlike 3-point shots, players can still hit mid-range two-pointers at a decent clip with a hand in their face, so this sped the game up a lot because the requirement of "openness" to shoot it was less.

It doesn't, Jordan isn't the GOAT of gravity he just jumped higher than just about everyone and had the talent/touch to make full use of his enitire time in the air.

Oh for sure.. it could easily be in there, it's just that there was an unlimited number of shots to choose from, and so i figured i would go with some of the lesser-seen ones.
