Lob Happy

Griffin is getting a little like Baron Davis with his predictable inclination to throw lobs to DJ even when they're not there.

Edit: Who'd have thunk it? Chris Paul has a game low with a -18 +/- rating with over 3 minutes left in regulation.

We do a lot of complaining and a lot of jacking up shots. JJ has the hot hand but we still give more shots to Jamal and Blake.

It's gotten to the point where I'm annoyed every time I hear and see Griffin's whining. The NBA should adopt the following approach from A League of Their Own:

we lost this game in the 1st half.

When I made that post about our attitude in the 1st half, we were winning.
Our approach was nowhere near focused enough to win a game against this caliber of a team.

our focus needed to be on the same level as if Golden State or SAS or any other elite team walked into Staples.

instead, we brought the intensity that we would normally bring for an Eastern Conference team and thus, couldn't match the physicality and didn't know how to deal with or respond to LITTLE failures that are going to come when you play a good team.

Time to trade Crawford.

thank you for giving us a jolt against GSW. Nobody wants to lose to them….but man were you terrible today.
The sports gods gave you a true demonstration over a 2 game sample of what we need to do.

trade this guy….get better on the wings defensively and become a grittier basketball team.
We'll use CP to create and JJ running off picks in the 4th and late in games.

I have been saying the last few games that you need to use all your assets late. the problem with cp3 and blake is that they think they can win by themselves. jj was hot, open and wanting it but did not get it. great players that win it all understands this. I hope they get it soon or this team will just be a contender and nothing else. a trade has to be made and soon. I thought they could make it without it but I was wrong.

GG, by the way, Clippers are not the first and not the last team that plays drunk or hungover when they play the Raptors. These are not the Craptors of old. Opponents used to open up a 10 point lead on the Raps and the game was over. Raps are still learning how to win, still look at the officials as they DO NOT get reputation calls ever (Raptors looking at officials complaining about the lack of a foul call results in the other team sprinting up the court and scoring, happens at least 3 times a game, and that's a pretty lousy way to throw away 6 points and loose a playoff game.) Anyways, the lesson is even crap Eastern conference teams can win in the west when (1) the team is not so crap and (2) the western team thinks the they can play hungover and still win. I am surprised the Raptors won, and won by that many.

Honestly, this team isn't even a contender. Contender implies that you have a reasonable shot at a championship. It would take a miracle for this team to even win a single playoff game. They're definitely headed to a first-round exit at best, that's not even a question.

I can't stand Simmons, but he is 1000% right. Even more than the roster construction or Doc's **** coaching, THIS is what pisses me off the most about this team. They carry themselves like they won the last three championships and expect wins to just be handed to them, when in reality, they've won nothing ever and aren't that good. When adversity strikes, more often than not, they complain to the refs, mentally shut down and the body language becomes terrible. That above all is why this team is the most hated in the league; nobody likes a spoiled child.

Clips played drunk or hungover. "We're playing the Raptors tomorrow- need to get ready for the game: call strippers, get champagne, rent a couple of hotel rooms. " If it becomes a trend, then there's a problem. Clips were not passing all that well, from what I saw. Didn't charge into the paint nowhere near enough to 'and 1' the Raps to death. (And that is how you beat the Raps, make shots in the paint and get to the fowl line- two bigs in the paint, dunking or tipping in shots, and getting fouled)

I have to disagree with bill simmons. I believe the clips like each other and enjoy playing together. they just need 2 more players. a pg for the second unit and a 3 to start. with smarter play late in games they have a chance to be very good but some changes have to be made.

I had to work during the game and by the time I checked the score the game was over. I'm honestly not surprised that we lost to the Raptors today. I know they are a good team that defends well and we don't defend consistent enough to win consistently. I'll just sit back and see if we can make some kind of move.
