Anything involving hard hat/lunch pail/etc in regards to work ethic.

Also, definitely sick of hearing a block/charge being called "toughest call in hoops"...

Mr Puddles wrote:Not really a phrase but I really dislike it when commentators start praising players for things aren't really worthy of special mention.

For example, I remember at one point Kevin Durant said that he doesn't go out clubbing before games, and commentators around the league were drooling over how responsible this was of him. Or when CP3's trade to LAL got rescinded, and reports were flocking around to praise Paul's professionalism for showing up for practice with NOLA after the offseason.

It's the equivalent of a boss at any other company going "thanks for showing up at your 20 mil USD a year job Paul!" "And you, Kevin, I have noticed that you haven't been showing up for work hungover and reeking of booze - way to go beyond the call of duty there buddy!"

It's actually kind of insulting how low these commentators set the bar for commendable achievements for these athletes.

I think its the other way around bud. The athletes themselves set the bar so low that any act of decency needs to be credited because of its rarity.

Benz is consistently awful.

"lackadaisical"
Everyone started bringing out this word last season, nothing worse than hearing monosyllabic language with some "clever" word dotted in occasionally. Stay in your lane commentators.

I'm pretty sure that half of the players in the league have been called a "GREAT PLAYER" at one point in a national TV broadcast. IMHO, that title should only be given to the best of the best. Kevin Durant can be called a GREAT PLAYER; JR Smith definitely should not.

And 1....

Tired of hearing that too.

IMO, there are only six or seven "great" players that exist.

There are a couple more who probably WILL be great, but need more of a resume.

That term gets floated around too much.

"There's still a lot of basketball to be played" when said at the 2:00 or 3:00 minute mark in the 4th.

No there isn't. The game is almost done. Announcer would be better off saying "there are still a lot of commercials to be seen."

The term "big 3" has been thrown around very loosely over the past decade or so

Breen says Ho ho ho more than santa claus. The guy certainly has a lot of goofy transition noises.

"Take what the defense gives you"

You think 35ppg and 37ppg MJ took what the defense gave them?
No they went out and got it.

Heat announcer says "KABOOM' after EVERY freaking 3point shot. Was slightly happy that we were a terrible 3pt shooting team last year, didn't have to hear that crap as much.

That an the damn 2 minutes, DOS MINUTOSSSSS ahhhhhhhh. Ive adapted to mute it at the 2min mark from here on out.

Mike Breen, I use to like him when only hearing him on national games here an there. But my god, he must be so annoying for knicks fans. It must get old. All those goofy sayings.

"Score the ball". What else are you going to score with? Whoever came up with this should be hung by the thumbs.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
