Re: Official East Conference Prediction Thread - July
After looking at most of these predictions, each fan has put their team in the playoffs. All homers.
I'll say this though; Nets, Sixers, Bucks, and Wizards will most likely miss the playoffs. The other 11 teams have the best chance at being around .500 basketball teams and making or barely missing the playoffs.

It's like, dudes are just trying to put someone in front of Toronto for the heck of it. It has subsided as of late though.
Anyway, it's nice to know that I have until the 31st to adjust my rankings....
EDIT: I'll just do it right now.
People will get cute, get used to it. I also have the feeling of guys first slotted Houston at #9 position for the sake of it, then started putting random teams above it![]()
It's all good. We are all entitled to our opinions, honest, or legit trolling. If they insist hammering Toronto at #3 and end up eating crow, they lose points...

Nahhh, keep pushing them down. I mean it! Last time people did this we went to WCF!

Y'all are buggin. Knicks have a legit chance of being at worse 6-8, at best 3-5.

I would give the Bucks & especially the Wizards a better chance of making the playoffs than the Magic & Heat.

Re: Official East Conference Prediction Thread - July
Playoffs (Projected wins in parentheses):
1- Pacers (63). Losing G. Hill will be tough, but they've got such a well-rounded bunch now. PG will now be supported by rising stars like Turner and established veteran leaders like Ellis, Al Jeff and Teague.
2- Cavs (55). They're coasting till the playoffs, like they've always done since LBJ made his way back.
3- Celtics (51). As I've said elsewhere, Horford alone doesn't make a frontcourt. Unless they can land Noel/Okafor somehow and break the logjam at 1/2, they're headed nowhere. Ainge's quixotic pursuit of KD lost them the chance to nab the likes of Ezeli, Boban, or Dedmon.
4- Magic (50). I see this team being extremely similar to the 2011 Thunder. They are a squad full of untapped potential ready to explode. With Ibaka providing much needed experience and Biyombo bringing an intensity, they'll shock the league.
5- Raptors (47). Huge step back. Everyone slept on them last year due to the endless 1st round letdowns. Not now. Without Biyombo to anchor the frontcourt should there be another JV injury. A 2nd round exit at my most generous prediction.
6- Hawks (46). Howard should have a nice bounce-back year. Also, Teague's exit opens the door for Schröder to take the reins. Coach Bud won't let this team regress.
7- Pistons (43). Don't sleep on them. I see Reggie hitting his prime, and with the possible Hack-a rule changes, Drummond is going to be a beast like we haven't seen from the Center position in years. Also, keep an eye on S. Johnson continuing to grow.
8- Hornets (41). MKG is on his way back. Like others have said, they've lost depth, but I don't foresee them being overtaken by any of the teams at 9th-12th.
Lottery:
9- Heat (40). Meh, Wade was aging badly. Besides, Bosh should be able to get his clot issues taken care of and they'd still compete for a playoff slot. I do see them barely missing out.
10- Wizards (38). Mostly lateral moves all summer. Nene gets replaced by Mahinmi.
11- Knicks (37). Porzinigis is wasted in this 2011 Throwback All-stars team. I'd put them lower, but there are bigger dumpster fires in the bottom of the East that should be good for a few wins for them.
12- Nets (35). I don't see them struggling as hard as last season. Also, with the draft being for the most part out of reach, they'd have to rely on selling their team to free agents. That would involve having to win some.
13- Bucks (32). This team has gone through the Jason Kidd Experiment, the Jabari Parker Experiment, as well as the Greg Monroe Experiment. None of which worked. An offseason wasted on a draft prospect of questionable age and a benchwarmer for the Cavs. The city as well as fans, having fought to keep their team recently...deserve better.
14- Bulls (20). A backcourt that can't shoot reliably, A hapless coach who doesn't have the locker room respect of his predecessor, and being the location of a washed-up star on a homecoming vanity tour. Josh Jackson better start looking for property here.
15- Sixers (15). Simmons would shine, and I see Okafor making improvements. I foresee this being their last year tanking, though.

i just don't trust them enough to definitely say they're a playoff team. we don't know how Rose & Noah are going to look this season, if Melo will further regress or if PorzinGod will take that massive step people are expecting. way too many question marks for a guarantee.

Same argument - why were they having so many all stars? Whole team got selected as player of the month?
They are all about coaching and system. Milsap is as important as Teague. Shroeder is expected to make a jump. Howard was a former DPOY. Hell yeah they make the playoffs, if not top 4.

Re: Official East Conference Prediction Thread - July
I feel there are 6 definites that will make the playoffs: Cleveland, Indiana, Toronto, Detroit, Orlando, and Boston. The rest of the teams seem to be just a roll of the dice...if things go well (limited injuries for players that are always injured, i.e. Rose, Noah), then a New York and/or Chicago, Atlanta, Milwaukee can be the 7th and 8th playoff team. I really can't see how anyone (at least based on TODAY) can put Miami, Philly, or Brooklyn in the top 10.

First, Millsap was clearly the best Hawk last season. It wasn't even close. Second, Dennis/Howard are more talented than Teague/Horford. There are legitimate concerns about Howard's fit and Dennis' readiness, but I have a lot of confidence in Bud to keep the team in the playoffs.

I have to ask lol, are you typing Dennis because you can't spell his last name ?
