Andrew Bogut thread

Post#1 » by bigmean » Fri Feb 24, 2017 2:05 am

I was opposed to them trading, Noel and Ilyasova, they should have given away Okafor.

the mis opportunity was trading Bogut to contender before the trade deadline I can think of two teams would have given something for him

I think we can traded Bogut and several second picks for Alec Burks.

I also think we could have traded Bogut to Boston for Tyler Zeller and Jordan Mickey.

they really missed a great opportunity to get even more value something Hinkie would capitalized on for sure, why not pursed a three way deal?

I also am not happen with the haul , they got Ilysaova I would like to see Thabo Selafosha and Mike Scott coming back or did Ilysavoa,Covington for Thabo Selafosha, Deandre Bembry Mike Scott

Well it's one of the pitfalls of doing these deals late for Noel. There is no way we'd have time to properly shop Bogut not that he'd fetch much anyways.

Two teams desperately tried and failed to extract any kind of value for Bogut. I think his value is fairly well established.

If we traded Bogut for second round picks, we would have owned half of the second round this year. How many second round picks do you want? Also why would a team give up assests if they know that within hours, Bogut will be released and they can just sign him outright?

Dallas has been shopping Bogut over the last month. There were no takers. Nobody that is interested in him can absorb his double digit million dollar contract. He's your classic "minimum signing after bought out by his current team" player.

I just do not understand this.... you want to keep Noel and pay him $20 million to sit on the bench and play backup to Embiid? Let's face facts... we were going to lose Nerlens for ZERO at the end of this year anyway.

You are better off keeping Okafor... especially with Embiid injured. Have Okafor start games now... and hopefully his value may increase from the 30 cents in the dollar it is at the moment. Okafor is on our books next year and has a team option in 2018/2019... so we aren't under the same pressure to trade him as we were with Nerlens.

Hopefully with some decent game time Okafor's value will increase and we may get a 1st rounder and a bit more for him. His value can't really go down any less.

Maybe we could just draft the entire Andulou Efes team and make them our foreign d-league team!

Not re-trading Bogut was no big deal, his salary was tough for teams to swallow for what he offers, at least the teams that might have a need for him. More assets are always nice, but it was unlikely all along.

They got what they wanted from Bogut. His 11M contract brought them that much closer to the Salary floor... while they only have to pay him for 1/3 of a season. So the owners pocket 7.5M that they otherwise would be playing in a salary floor penalty (that would be distributed to Sixer players.) So all in all a successful trade deadline for the owners. Their distress asset yielding a nice dividend check today.

Welcome Andrew Bogut

Not sure how long he will be with us as the 76ers are more than likely to waive him in the next few days.

When healthy this guy is a defensive beast and one hell of a player. Most likely will end up on Rockets or Cavs. Hoping it's the Rockets.

He could be the perfect compliment to Embiid.

Nah, but that's irregardless. Thought I'd read that he said that he'd refuse to report here if we didn't trade him elsewhere, or obviously buy him out. Then for 'personal reasons' he doesn't report.
