No sir. A regular chess board is flat (Kyrie Irving would argue it is round). You move forward, back, side to side. A 3D chess board includes verticality. You move forward, back, side to side AND up and down.

Note: Some teams are playing 3D chess, some are playing 2D chess. Some are playing checkers.

I also believe it is possible that Danny uses Tatum in the trade instead of Crowder and the LAL pick. They have very similar contracts. But on a contender, do you value Crowder's (ave $7m/yr) guaranteed production for 3 yrs over Tatum (ave $7m/yr) giving who knows what? This is a contending team, that is the only reason why this is a tough choice. This is where Danny's understanding of these players, plus a huge set of balls to make a call one way or the other really matters. And I trust his judgement.

The $2mm salary cap reduction has squeezed the C's, Danny acknowledged this. It may force him into taking the risk on Tatum, as his contract is cheaper up front than Crowder.

Remember that Woj tweeted just before we made our pick that IND and BOS were close on a deal, then nothing happened? Were IND waiting to see who would be available at pick 3 before committing to the trade?

Have the two sides already agreed? Are they now just waiting for Free Agency to start so that we can get the trade done?

Remember this?

That's what split contracts were invented for. :)

If we land Hayward and PG without giving Tatum/Brown/Lakers pick/BKN pick we would have 2 cores. One for now and one for the future.

It's possible Indiana is holding out hope of landing Hayward. They'd have to move a bit but they may hold out hope that changes George's mind.
