We're high enough to consider a QB or at least trading up for a QB. Maybe Zach Wilson or Trey Lance could be an option. Kind of doubt we will though. Otherwise we should probably look for OL or defense.

special teams coach is out, so we'll need a new one of those

kubiack is debating retiring, but if he does the most likely replacement is his son klint right? zimmer isn't going to rock the boat if he can keep some continuity. plus zimmer is on the hotseat if they don't make the playoffs next year so a completely new offensive system is probably out of the question

i don't think they go qb early, and i hope they don't. there are a lot of great pieces in place and if we can shore up some other weak spots we'll really have something (it what i always hope anyway)

cousins isn't that bad, and we aren't getting out of his contract early. if we go qb early there will be a lot of pressure to play him early, and then we'll have a backup qb making $30m sitting on the bench which just doesn't seem ideal (for potentially 2 years!)

It’s not abnormal for rookies to sit a year, and I think we can get out of 2022 if we want.
I mostly just think it’s fun to talk about the skill position players, but I do think the Vikings should at least be looking at the QBs. If they really like someone, go ahead and grab him, but they don’t need to feel obligated to take a QB.

i'm just so gun-shy on qbs, this franchise has not had a good track record (to say the least) with qbs, drafted or otherwise, for years. if they want to take a guy fine, but i hope it's someone they feel is right for what they want to do. not just the best qb there and we'll make it work. missing on a qb high in the draft just sets you back

11 is not enough picks for Rick. He'll trade down for more yet.

Oh look. It's that time of year again when the Packers are still playing.

gary kubiak has retired, again

klint is probably the favorite for the oc job, i'd be really surprised if they went in an unexpected direction

I would think Klint is the favorite too, but I also wouldn't be that surprised to see the Vikings hire someone in the role that Gary Kubiak had with Stephanski. Zimmer has liked hiring former head coaches on offense, so hiring someone like Jay Gruden or Hugh Jackson wouldn't be surprising.

klint got the job
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30861558/minnesota-vikings-promote-klint-kubiak-oc-job-sources-say

we also have a new special teams coordinator, he was the assistant coordinator for the last several years. so i guess the jury is out on whether that will improve special teams at all

kyle rudolph has been released, after 10 years with the team

i'll miss him, one of my favorite players on the team. but with the cap situation and how well irv and conklin played while he was out this was an easy money-saving move to make

We'll see if Anthony Barr or Riley Reiff is next.

might be able to extend reiff and lower his number. the trouble with cutting him is that it will be really tough to find a better left tackle for cheaper (unless they are planning on drafting one)
