Any thoughts on who to be looking into for the Portland pick? It’ll probably be in 34-37 range which is quite valuable in this class

Jak is my favourite for the Raptors to take if we can’t get Flagg or Harper. Great size for a PG while being an elite shooter.

Demin vs Bailey highly depends on how they look after their predraft training and what the numbers say after March. I haven’t bought the Bailey hype yet but he might be super moldable/coachable and we just aren’t aware of that kind of behind the scenes info

Hoping for an upper year player that can contribute now

I wouldn’t mind swinging on Hansen if he’s even available

Gotta think if we get another guard near the top of the draft this pick might have to be a C....Idk if we can afford to draft more guards at this point...Maybe Ryan Kalkbrenner who gives me some Brook Lopez vibes...But thats based on positional need...Might be better players available

Can see him as a Lopez hes also getting you 3 blocks a game...So could be usefull

Same for me.

Based on games played so far:

Tier 1: Flagg, Harper and Jakucionis.

Tier 2: Bailey, Demin, Tre Johnson and Edgecombe.

He's old and slower than the Ivisic's. Draft Tomislav and Zvonimir by getting another pick.

It's still a bit early in college season but I'm going to post my first "Masai-type FRP" list of the 2025 draft cycle as a reply to this post. This list is subject to change throughout the season as some guys rise and fall based on production inconsistency (list will most likely shrink). In brackets will be where they are currently ranked on ESPN's mock (generally Masai-types rise in mocks throughout the college season), and their school.

First, my track record so far (check the dates on these posts). I didn't know about Torvik until the 2023 draft cycle which is the site I use to filter for Masai-types:

Gradey:

Ja'Kobe (his 1st half of the season stood out big time, before his knee issues in the 2nd half caused a drop off in production):

Mogbo (pick 31 I was tracking as a psuedo-FRP, considering it was a very early SRP):

Players I generally like so far:

Top 5: Jakucionis, Harper, Tre

Mid-late 1st: Adou, Fears, Bogoljub

2nd round: Tom Ivisic, Johni Broome (there may probably be several more I like here and I’d prefer a better shot blocking + more mobile C)

These would be my early guesses...I really think we'll add a big that can stretch the floor with the 2nd pick. But in the off-chance that the FO becomes enamored with Khaman or Queen, then there might be a couple of wings to play that 3+D spot that we need at SF as well.

Add Adou Thiero if he happens to fall into the second round.

Im trying to get into Kasparas Jakucionis because i see the numbers hes putting up....Im just a little worried if he will translate to the NBA since hes not really explosive or lack of athletic ability ....He has some skills and can shoot i just hope its not another Jimmer Fredette situation where he puts up crazy numbers in college and flops in the league.

But ill watch more games from him.

I just turned on some game of Fredette's against New Mexico when he dropped 52 on them. Such a prolific college scorer... Also made me realize Jakucionis wears the same number as him

VJ is a hard one to scout...Hes so athletically gifted and his defensive upside is insane...But hes also still raw as a player...But man if he ever develops a more polished offensive game in the future he has best player from the class upside.

There is tangible evidence to suggest that upside exists, but I agree that he's looking like a pretty raw prospect.

Gonna add to this that Flagg also qualifies for the above query (I checked it myself).

Also another chance for me to mention Thomas Sorber (please don't go back to school like CMB last year).

I absolutely love Adou thieros game. He is an OG type player but with more burst and hops, meaning his ceiling is probably a tad higher, at least in terms of slashing. He’s probably not going to be the man at all, but an OG that can get downhill more consistently is a super good player and probably an off ball third option type.

A big.
Kelly O and Chris B. are holding down a spot where we need a younger option.

Sorber
Zikarsky
Broome
Wolf
Kalkbrenner
Ivisic
Ivisic
Krivas

Lots of potential bigs this year. As season goes on there will obviously be names that come up or drop off but a higher level back up big is a no brainer with the way the roster stands.

There also a list of PF's that are 6'9 or better that would fit but getting a C should be priority, especially if we draft a pg/sg/sf with our own pick.

People have short memories.

He was arguably the Bahamas best player this summer on a team with multiple nba players

This Jak player is he more like Austin Reaves/ Donte Divincenzo/ Bogdan B than Steph? Not that exciting if that's the case if we get a top pick, I'd hope for better. I guess we need talent regardless but you get what I mean.

6'3 Russel Westbrook?

He scares me but I'd get on board if we drafted him. If Darko and team can develop this guy's game... That's a player. But ya he's a wild card and scary as hell.
