Just 1 more ring! After 40 years of sucking before Septh, what is 10 years post Septh?
This whole thing we want to be good 15 years after Steph, is crazy to me. The odds of us getting another top 10 player of all time is so slim and that fact that you’re not going all out to win while you still have a top 10 player of all time while playing at a top 5 player level is just insane.
People think we’ll attract free agents, sf is not the place to be for young millionaires. There’s no places to go. You literally have to fight for women because there are so few and you’re also going against tech money for their attention. We are not going to be a destination in the future.
Dallas has an owner that was treating everyone to five star treatment and they couldn’t attract anyone. Great ownership is not what attracts young nba players.
The bulls have been trash since mj. They had the front office, they have the history, and no one wants to take that mantle.
There is no guarantee that we get another top 10 player of all time in the next 20 years and people are ok with not giving everything for our literal franchise goat and people really think this is going to be a destination? This just gives off vibes of we’re planning for the future at all times so if you come here we’re already thinking about how we can replace you and that’s supposed to be attractive?
Very much agree on the 'never getting another top 10 player" and "going all out." The rest of it is just weird.
SF is a great destination for young people from all over the world. The 'fight for women' bit just sounds like personal frustration. Between the youth in the region, the money/business opps, and the weather, there are few better places to be. Since we lost cohan, we haven't had much trouble attracting FAs. Is that curry, lacob, or other reasons? Not sure. Everyone raves about how 1st class the org is and the only time we had enough money to sign a max guy, KD chose to come here.
Dallas is a terrible town to be rich, young, and black. They haven't exactly knocked it out of the part with their own draft picks, FAs, or trades. Not sure what would attract me to dallas, especially after everyone started pimping out the team plane and practice facility.
The bulls had the FO? What? Following MJ is hard enough but playing for that FO? It's a dumpster fire, why would anyone want to go to chicago? Same POS owner that chased out Jordan and co. I mean, if lacob refuses to pay Steve and Steph has to 'retire' only to come back in 2 years and play for Charlotte, we will certainly have trouble finding FAs in the future. It was self-immolation by the bulls in '98 and everyone knew it.
If I look past the handwringing, all these 'why haven't we gone all in' complaints are about not trading our picks when we had good ones (or our current future picks). I mean, sure... but people seem to be far more confident about what trades were offered and why they broke down than what is actually being reported, often years after the fact.
Could we have moved wigs + JK for Pascal? At one point, I thought we turned it down, then I thought pascal refused to come here, and last thing I heard was that Tor had no interest in JK. Which of those is true? Likely none of them.
This team pays out of the nose, makes hard decisions, and starts out every season trying to win. I would have thought after the cohan years, we'd recognize this when we see it.
