if a package of collison and okafor for drew was offered to us before collison got traded to indy would you guys have said yes to it?

No... Bynum > Okafor & As for Lakers, Steve Blake & Derek Fisher much fitter than Collison. We dont need super/star PG to run the triangle..

Okafor has a pretty hefty contract, and while Collison may be a good fit in the future, he's not a good fit with the team we have now. If Okafor wasn't on contract for 4 more years I would pull the trigger.

sasha and luke package

Post#1123 » by rafiq11 » Tue Sep 28, 2010 11:18 pm

why isnt Mitch or anyone talking this deal. does it not make sense. Luke and Sasha contract add up to that of Jamal Crawford. he doesnt want to sign an extension with ATL and maybe Sasha's $5M coming off the books for them may be attractive.
is it a viable trade? Jamal can give some good 2-guard minutes behind Kobe if Shannon is off his game ( or when Shannon is off his game)

and how does that package make sense for Atl? They dont want to extend a useful player thats expiring but you have them acquiring a useless player in Walton that still has 3 yrs left @ 5mill/yr?

No one is going to help the Lakers in that way. Luke is working out and we shall see if his back is back to normal or should he shut it down and call it a career. Sasha is a backup Phil will use here and there and he will make a few shots and miss a few. Neither of those players will not make a difference in the over all scheme of the season.

Lakers would love to get both off the roster just to save some money. Being over the tax. Both make around 5 million. So that is 10 million and throw in the tax and it now becomes 20 million.

I don't think any team would want Luke's contract.

Doing that move would be like adding pure sugar to a bowl of Cap'n Crunch w/crunch berries, unnecessary. Lakers are the most talented team in the league.

Can we really stop discussing imaginary trade packages for Sasha and Luke neither of these guys is being traded anytime soon. Sashas contract is going to expire at the end of the season and Luke maybe bought out next summer.

AK for Bynum

Post#1132 » by blackham9258 » Wed Sep 29, 2010 5:15 am

Just wondering if patience is running out in Laker land for Bynum. You are all astute fans and realize the upside and downside and salary implications of both players and the risks with each. All told, this is a risk for both teams for different reasons, I just want to know if it is time to move on if your LA.

training camp started but season hasn't so i'm still cool. heck, even he comes back by January as long as he's healthy no problem. trade deadline is Feb so if things don't shake up nicely, Mitch probably knows what to do.

but for AK? NO. trading away a center for another forward doesn't make sense. it'll weaken the interior and the roster will have a glut at the 3 spot.

though you made it very tempting because of DWill and got rid of Luke but still...

doesn't work: http://www.realgm.com/src_tradechecker/3/

and it doesn't make sense for Utah.

Post that on the MN board and get a good laugh when they all tell you how Darko and Pekovic are going to be better than the "oft injured, immature, unmotivated, etc insert scathing comment here" Bynum. Literally cannot put Bynum anywhere in this site without the bashing coming strong.

I'm a wolves fan and I'm intrigued by a possibilty of fielding a starting frontcourt of 2 7'1''-footers, and I believe Rambis will be able to help Bynum fullfill his potential. But you're probably right about Bynum perception on the wolves board.

How about Jeff Foster to hold down the 3rd big role until Bynum returns?

Foster to LA
Vujacic and Solomon Jones to Philly
Nocioni to Indy

Philly has no room for Nocioni and slices him into two smaller expirers, and loses his 2011-12 salary ('13 is a team opt so no hurt for Indy).
Indiana gets their needed 2 for 1 so they can fit all their draft picks on the roster and is in position to take on some '12 salary, plus needs a b/u PF which Nocioni can do for stretches.
LA gets a serviceable big, who expires, to contribute until Christmas.
