I can't decide if I like Hibbert or Brook Lopez less. Probably Hibbert. Both guys are overhyped based on their size.

Lopez is vastly under-hyped here. In his last nearly full year he had the 6th best Roland Rating in the NBA, sandwiched between Duncan, Paul, Parker, and Anthony. The reality is Lopez is a really good player. And as I laid out in a previous post, the Lopez trade would have been a fine one for the Bucks at the time because both Lopez is a good player, and trading a then healthy enough Sanders + Ilyasova pre deadline would have ensured a top 4 pick unlike keeping them.

Hibbert on the other hand might have some intangible effect with his rim protection, but he's barely out-producing his counterpart on a game-by-game basis, so in reality he could just be a little above average player on a team that was really good thanks to George and West. Plus he's older and more expensive than Sanders, so that would probably be a terrible trade for us right now.

Hibbert is just a guy that I don't feel comfortable paying max money to when he could turn from Marc Gasol into Kwame Brown at a moment's notice. Sure, he doesn't have anywhere near the offensive skills that Hibbert has, but I think Larry is a better talent, younger, cheaper, and more salvageable.

I dont know if Jabari, Giannis, Bledsoe would be enough to beat that team.

I know Hibbert is fun to kick around, but swapping he for Sanders would not be the worst deal in the world if Kidd had an accelerated plan to get a PG like Bledsoe. Hibbert was pretty much superior to Sanders until Hibbert had his personal meltdown last winter. Maybe it was caused by Paul George screwing his wife or whatever. Don't know.

If Kidd thought he could reclaim him with a change of scenery, AND the new ownership and Kidd didn't want to tank badly next year, this type of move could have some merit.

I remember that no one wanted AK47 for that period of time he was messed up with his wife and playing Warcraft all night. Hibbert could be the same way.

I think it would be an absolute abomination of a deal. HIbbert has always been trash. One good series against Miami inflated his value in the worst way.

One issue of the Bucks that many analysts named was the constant churn/huge turnover of the roster every year thereby preventing any continuity from occurring. Players benefit from getting to know each others tendencies. A trade like Sanders for Hibbert provides no improvement just creates discontinuity. Unless an outstanding deal comes about I feel the following players should not be traded as they are all capable of developing and making a positive contribution now and in the future:

Parker
Giannis
Sanders
Middleton
Henson
Knight
Wolters
OBryant
Raduj

Meanwhile the following are unlikely long term contributors or are no longer a fit
Delfino-31 –team option next year
Zaza-30 – 2yrs remaining

Your argument doesn't make much sense.

Yes, Cleveland is going to be much better, but Miami is going to be much worse. Power just shifts in the conference from one team to another. This has no effect on our rebuilding process.

Not sure of the legality of this move, but couldn't the Bucks trade Wright (non-guaranteed) for Lin and asset? I know Philly's been most tied to Lin, but what can they offer the Bucks can't? Houston can just immediately wave Wright and they have a nice wad of cash to spend on Bosh and Parsons.

At the very least, the Bucks should pursue it. You eat Lin's contract for a year, pick up an asset and aim for a long-term starter at PG in next year's draft.

I'd love to add Bledsoe but I assume the Suns match. At this point I'd rather be aggressive in adding Lin + picks. Using our cap space to acquire future assets is the best thing we can do right now.

We're in such a good position to absorb solid players from teams like Houston and Chicago. Whether it's Lin and picks, Terrence Jones, Beverley, Gibson (to be flipped), it's going to be pretty disappointing if we don't get in on one of them. Unless we actually get Bledsoe (not just set Phoenix's contract for him).

That's a good question. It certainly is looking like Phoenix is preparing for the eventuality of not matching a max offer sheet for Bledsoe. Hopefully Hammond can get in there and get it done and hopefully Kidd can make a phone call.
